It's a myth that you need to learn an instrument at a young age. In fact, many adults come to music lessons without realizing they possess life skills that contribute to excellent musicianship! As a piano teacher in both Ontario and Nova Scotia, I've cherished the opportunity to teach children, teens, and adults and each has been a uniquely rewarding experience. Some of my adult piano students have included an elementary school teacher, a children's TV soundtrack composer, a set decorator, a librarian, a psychologist, an environmentalist, an occupational therapist, a bartender, a carpenter, an engineer, a university professor, a nurse, a doctor, an office administrator, a salesman, an insurance adjuster, a naval officer, a lawyer, a scientist, an accountant, a domestic engineer, director of human resources, somatic practitioner, many retirees, and singers, songwriters, and musicians who sing or play other instruments including those from other cultures. It's never too late to begin your musical journey, or to revisit and refresh your previous musical skills.
