About the teacher: Nadia Kane

Nadia has experience teaching individuals of all ages and abilities from a large variety of backgrounds, helping each person to reach diverse goals since she began teaching as a profession in 1995. She works with students who are seeking personal enrichment as well as those pursuing academic goals. Having developed her own private practice as well as working in several music schools, piano has been at the core of her life since she began her studies in childhood. Nadia previously performed at the ARCT level and completed Royal Conservatory of Music examinations in Performance, Music Theory, Harmony, Counterpoint, and Music History. She is an RCM Certified Teacher who specializes in Performance and Theory, and is well-equipped to provide guidance to musicians of all levels.

Nadia is highly communicative and down-to-earth, a passionate, experienced, and educated instructor of piano/keyboard skills and songwriting/composing who is devoted to all things surrounding music appreciation and musicianship. Nadia encourages each individual to reach toward their greatest outcomes and personal bests. She is comfortable with traditional and non-traditional methods of instruction, and seeks to develop within each student a broader perception of music outside of the lesson room using a holistic approach, integrating this practice with an awareness of modern technology. 

Aside from being an avid consumer of music from numerous genres, Nadia has studied and performed organ and piano music since age seven. Initially devoting herself to classical piano performance during the first half of her life, Nadia has since broadened her musical path, writing and recording original music in the singer-songwriter, indie rock, shoegaze/dreampop, classical, and  experimental genres. She now sings, and makes use of synthesizer and guitars (acoustic, electric, classical, and bass) in these projects. As a musician, she has experimented with other instruments including percussion, ukulele, melodica, autoharp, harmonica, and cello, and looks forward to experimenting with more instruments over the course of her life to gain further musical perspective.

Alongside writing songs that she records herself, Nadia is continually composing classical and non-classical pieces for pianists of all levels.
